CORPUS

Opening of the exhibition CORPUS by Théophile Arcelin // Tuesday, October 20 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM // Galerie de la Clé – 23 rue Michel le Comte 75003 Paris

Galerie de la Clé celebrates Paris Art Week 2026 with Théophile Arcelin. An enigmatic painter drawing on mystical and dreamlike inspirations, he enjoys blending the sacred with the supernatural and never tires of exploring the limits of consciousness to bring forth the intangible.

In this new series titled CORPUS, Théophile Arcelin explores a painting of the invisible, where nature becomes the site of apparition and the sacred. As he himself points out, this new pictorial series immerses itself in the moment when painting begins to become presence, this spiritual moment when substance takes precedence over form and the immaterial becomes reality.

CORPUS is a body of work centered on emerging bodies, isolated or aggregated, situated between anatomy and apparition.

Opening in the presence of the artist, Tuesday, October 20 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Théophile Arcelin lives and works in Paris. After two years at ESAG Penninghen, Théophile Arcelin graduated from ESEC in 2006. A painter, he also works with drawing, video, and performance.

His work seeks the moment when a figure seems to emerge from matter rather than be represented within it. Nothing is drawn before being painted: colour is laid down, diluted, shifted until bodies appear in the run, then defined without being closed off. A fever at seventeen, in Nepal, accompanied by fragmentary visions, has left in his work white forms and figures in suspension.

He is currently working on the CORPUS series, large-format acrylics where red is not a backdrop but a continuous space from which bodies emerge, isolated or aggregated, between anatomy, stain, and apparition.
